Lots of threads on this topic that you can search and read more up on here but the basics are...
- Yep you can do this but system pages are shared with all sites.
- What the above means in terms of eCommerce are that the shopping cart and payment pages along with confirmation pages are one layout that is shared so you have to make these generic. Both sites will go through the one worldsecuresystems.com sub domain.
- Products only have the one layout and catalogs only have the one template you can select. So there is a lot of CSS work and domain check to CSS changes you need to do. There will be catalogs with one template to reflect a product and you have to be pretty accurate to avoid cross over.
- the sitemap.xml that is auto generated will need you to put a manual one in to turn it off as it will only act as one site, you wont be able to use things like product feed for the same reason.
- There are lots of SEO considerations and things you have to do with this in mind, especially with an eCommerce site.
In general - Small sites - Yep you can do this, for eCommerce but becomes ten times harder. Possible but you will never get ideal results.
