Captivate does not open properly

Hi there. I'm using the latest version (v8) on a Mac and have run into the same exact issue I had with v7 on a Windows machine (so it's clearly not my hardware): When I start the software I can see that it is loading in the centre of my screen. Inexplicably, I the welcome screen then appears in the top left hand corner, but I can only see part of it. I can drag this box to the centre of the screen, but when I try to open a new file or open an existing file nothing appears on my screen, so I cannot work on the file. However, when I then exit Captivate via File > Exit, I get a dialogue which asks me whether I want to save the edited file, so it appears the file did open but I could not see anything on my screen at all. There is nothing wrong with zoom settings or anything else.

Is this a known bug, and how do I fix it?
